Highlights of the show

  1. This was a much smaller show, both in size of our layout and duration. It was only five hours long. We didn't get nearly the amount of visitors that we usually get. Some of the kids that did come by however were very, very excited by our layout. The rest of the participants were mostly into Lionel and O guage -- virtually nothing with HO or N guage or any other toys.
  2. Ken filled up two tables worth with his large western layout.
  3. Kevin built up downtown with his underground metro station, black and sand-red office building, a shorter wide office building, and his building under construction. Margart lent a programmable controller to help automate the crane operation. While mostly successful, it seemed to swing the crane around a bit wildly. Keven redesigned his cell tower from rounds to octagons.
  4. I brought a new eight floor tan building I built on Thanksgiving along with a bunch of older buildings: the Octan headquarters, a medium size blue building, an art deco building with "drill" supports, and three identical houses. My giant minifig went on a rampage and grabbed a vehicle from the road.
  5. Constantine provided his above ground metro station and overnight built a miniature version of the 4403 Air Blazers helicopter for the helipad on my tan office building.
  6. Bob created a white office building using the Duplo mosaic bricks as architectural elements. He also brought a Gringots truck (we think they've expanded from just a bank to a shopping mall store).
  7. Nate populated a city block using three joined small office buildings and pub. There was lighting showing a guy playing the piano on the fourth floor. Nate also provided a flashing crossing guard, a flashing Exxon station, and automated rail switches.
  8. Margart brought a playground and park. She had a working windmill on a small farm.
  9. Greg had his bank (or maybe it's a post office, I'm not sure).
  10. I'm not sure who built the forest with the wolf.
  11. Magnus provided a castle wall made up of modular segments. This was his first contribution to our train layouts.
  12. Bob also brought a mini star destroyer so everyone could see the new gray and voice their opinions.
  13. There were other creations that we've seen at other layouts but I'm just not listing them all.
  14. The entire building lost power for a minute and left us completely in the dark -- not that it was very bright in the hall where we were anyway.
  15. The announcer for the prize drawings (too many) was loud. Way too loud. You don't need to shout when you have a PA system.
