Highlights of the play meeting

  1. It's been a while since we ran some trains at a meeting so Nate brought some track and trains to run. Constantine also provided an engine to run. Despite the fact that it looks like the train has derailed, it actually does run across two tracks - even around corners!
  2. Jim brought two thin but long displays of robots and dinosaurs that he had built for display at a local elementary school in New Jersey. The event was so successful the teachers were cutting the classes short so they could bring their students to see the exhibit and the student MOCs took over three display cases. Jim has been asked to set up displays on an almost constant basis but that may be just more than he wants to do.
  3. Joe built a museum showing a dinosaur exhibit that was overrun by real dinos. An excellent use of Insectoid legs for the roof and clear "solar pannels" for windows.
  4. Ken brought several Harry Potter sets.
  5. Magnus built a catapult that was successful in attacking the robots in Jim's display but not so successful against a knight on a horse.
  6. Constantine built both military and civilian Hummers.
  7. Mike put together the new snowspeeder.

Highlights of the business meeting

  1. Elections! The nominees were: Chairperson: Christina & Ken, Public Relations: Craig & Christina, and Bookkeeper: Nate & Abe. The elections were run by Bob and the results for the next six months are: Christina for Chairperson, Craig for Public Relations, and Nate for Bookkeeper. Congratulations to all.
  2. Ten copies of the Getting Started with LEGO Trains by Jake have been ordered and will arive by next meeting. There have been seven pre-orders so three are still up for grabs. These are 40% off the cover price.
  3. The exhibition for Seat Pleasant Day is either a two, four, or six hour event (we're not really sure at this time) but there only were three folks who expressed interest in helping out so if there isn't more support, this may not come about.
  4. Our display at the Toy Train Museum is up.
  5. BrickFest is scheduled for August 13-15, 2004.
