Highlights of the play meeting
- A building challenge was held. The theme was "Sea". The contestants had one hour. Judy built the Titanic and a school of tiny fish. I mounted a big spear gun on a tiny ship. Joe created a sea horse. Ken had breaking waves. Mike created a stripped fish. Maelee built a Mick Jagger lipped sea creature. Jim fashioned a boat with three types of propulsion. Magnus created a non-violent sub with vicious claws and a submarine. Fradel erected a lighthouse, a whale, and a few other creations. A new guy (whose name I don't remember) created an island. Nick built a diving bell with cable. Abner created a different stripped fish. Ken cooked up some fish and chips. Everyone was declared the winner.
- Ken brought a bunch of model team cars.
- Judy built a temple as well as a micro scale (sort of) statue of liberty and ferry.
- Marian was building the Blue Fury
- Mike was building the Lunar Lander.
- I brought the 4WD X-Track. It is the slowest moving car. I also brought the space age fire engine with grey side panels that made it look like an old VW.
- John created his house in micro scale.
- I never got a chance to sort out who created the rest.
- Constantine showed off his prowess with sticker creation.
Highlights of the business meeting
- Nate is still missing in action.
- We got a look at the engraved WAMALUG badges. They look much better in person than they did in the photograph.
- We are still considering the Fair City mall display but we need more info.
- We are going to pick up a box of AFOLs comics at BrickFest. And when I say we, I mean Ken.
- We have decided to participate in the container swap at BrickFest. Jim is leading the effort. What he decides goes. The containers are going to be mostly yellow (since the club has a lot of yellow brick). Constantine is going to print up both wrap around stickers along with front and back stickers.
- I have been given the go ahead to buy the Polo shirts for the club. I'm going to check the supplier that BrickFest is using to see if they would be better than Lands' End and go with whomever is better. The cost will be about $95 for the logo setup and $25 per shirt. The first shirt for each member will be subsidized by the club for the first $10 leaving the cost of the shirt at $15 for each member. Additional shirts will be $25 per shirt.
- We have agreed to pay for the shipping of the secret free brick.
- A lot of discussion about WAMALUG vs. WamaLTC and should we keep the groups separate or not.
