Highlights of the packing

  1. Greg is returning to Michigan :-( so, despite our sadness in his leaving, we got together one last time at his house to dismantle and pack up his LEGO train layout and assorted LEGO.
  2. As an bonus, Greg offered free LEGO so after Greg took out the LEGO he wanted to keep, Nate, Constantine, and I picked up a handful of LEGO. Margaret and Tom came later so they got to pick over what was left. What remained after that was donated to WamaLTC's K8.
  3. Dismantling the layout went fairly smoothly. From start to finish we boxed up about 95% of the LEGO in about 4 hours.
  4. We used quart and gallon zip top bags to contain the LEGO from the various small drawers and used garbage bags to hold the contents of the really large drawers. One unusual method that worked surprisingly well was to use Glad's Press'n Seal to cover 12 of the bins. This stuff is like sticky plastic wrap. Nate demonstrated that it really works by turning one of the bins upside down and shaking it (much to Tom's consternation).
  5. I know it looks like Constantine is boxing up Claudia to ship her along with the LEGO but that didn't happen. She was very helpful in holding the trash bags open so we could dump the LEGO from the drawers. She was also small enough to crawl under the tables to help with retrieving small pieces (unlike Margaret who kept bouncing the tables up and down while she was under the tables disconnecting the wires).
  6. Tom and Holly came for a while to visit but had to leave before all was packed but Tom is in at least one of the photos. I kept my reputation as unofficial photographer intact by taking pictures when he wasn't expecting it. I think Tom had forgotten that part about me :-)
On my way over, I had stopped at the local Toys R Us and found this Jug O' Bionicle's. I wish I had found this a few days earlier and I would have posted it as an April Fool's joke. It looks like one of those giant plastic jugs that pretzels come in but at $20 for 702 pieces it's not a bad deal (if you like Bionicle of course).
